British Values

At Noak Bridge we promote British Values throughout the school; in our school ethos, working environment and lessons. As a school, we feel it is imperative for children to understand what it means to have ‘values’ and by promoting British Values, children begin to understand the world around them, to become valuable and well-rounded members of society.
Our daily assemblies link directly to British Values, Protected Characteristics and the UN Article of Rights of children. We teach British Values through real world news and events which show our children how British Values impact the world.
By exploring and debating topical issues, our pupils will exercise British Values by learning to respect and tolerate the views of people around them as well as develop key skills for life, including critical thinking and empathy.

Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development
At Noak Bridge School, we recognise that pupils’ personal development is just as important as their academic success. Promoting Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development is central to our school values and ethos and underpins everything we do, both across the curriculum and beyond.
Through high-quality teaching and learning, pupils are encouraged to reflect, ask questions, develop a strong sense of right and wrong and understand their role within the school, the local community and the wider world. SMSC permeates our curriculum providing meaningful opportunities for discussion, collaboration, reflection and respect for others’ views. This supports our children in developing confidence, resilience, empathy and self-awareness, contributing to positive attitudes to learning and behaviour.
Beyond the classroom, SMSC is promoted through assemblies, leadership roles, enrichment activities, educational visits and strong relationships across the school community. Children are encouraged to take responsibility, work cooperatively and develop positive relationships. We place a strong emphasis on mutual respect, tolerance and understanding of diversity.
By providing opportunities for spiritual reflection, moral decision-making, social interaction and cultural understanding, we help children to be well-prepared for the next stage of their education and for life in modern Britain.
